Our Team
We are ONE
Marissa brings to our organization a strong passion in community, family and perseverance. Marissa attended Lyons CSD before moving to Sodus where she later graduated class of 2014! Marissa then went on to attended Nazareth College receiving her first Master’s degree in Social Work, before getting her second Master’s degree in Leadership and Organizational Change. After completing her first master’s degree, Marissa went on to become a Licensed Master of Social Work. Marissa currently works at a Marion Elementary School as a social worker!
Furthermore, Marissa has spent time volunteering with Project Homeless Connection where she distributed coats to the homeless community. Marissa expressed that after this experience, she switched her major to social work and never looked back.
In addition to Marissa’s education and volunteer work, she has battled bullying and discouragement for being “different”. However, her diversity— which used to be a target— has become a valuable asset. She has faced several hardships in her life that have helped shape her into the strong-willed person that she is, and encouraged her passion to help others with battling through and conquer their own struggles.
One of Marissa’s greatest accomplishments is raising her niece and nephew, and being their biggest advocate through life. Marissa’s unwavering strength, knowledge, education, and lived experiences makes her a valuable asset to our team (and the community)! We look forward to driving above and beyond for the community with her insight.
Introducing Matt, a dedicated U.S. Postal Carrier at Newark's USPS location, who brings a deep-rooted connection to the Wayne County community, particularly Newark. With a background shaped by his community-involved grandparents and father, Matt's commitment to serving others is evident in his extensive network and firsthand experience within our hometown. His unwavering passion for the community and genuine care for individuals have become the driving force behind our organization's core values.
With over a decade of management and customer service experience, Matt brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our team. His exceptional skill in connecting people together will greatly enhance our initiative and drive success!
Introducing Makayla, a seasoned professional with over 5 years of experience in the behavioral health field, specializing in compliance, human services, parenting needs, and community resources. With a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Makayla has successfully developed programs like the Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) in Wayne County. In 2019, she founded MakWorth Therapeutics, offering life coaching services to individuals seeking personal growth and development.
Makayla's commitment to her hometown, Lyons, is evident through her active involvement in the community. For 5 years, she dedicated her time to coaching Youth Cheerleading, fostering a positive and empowering environment for young individuals. Additionally, Makayla has volunteered at numerous community events, further demonstrating her dedication to giving back.
As a wife and mother of four, Makayla understands the importance of sharing valuable resources and tools with her community. Drawing from her personal experiences, she is eager to contribute to the growth and well-being of others, offering support and guidance to those who seek it. Makayla's passion for helping others shines through her work, making her a valuable asset to the community she holds dear.
